Festival Idea

The BellaTOFIFEST International Film Festival is a recurring event held in Toruń since 2003 and organised by the Culture Office Foundation. The festival showcases auteur cinema that is socially engaged, bold, and deeply human-centred, with a strong focus on emerging filmmakers and debut works.

The festival’s guiding principle is creative and artistic nonconformity, reflected both in the selection of films and themes presented, as well as in the achievements and personalities of the artists invited to take part in the event.

In addition to film screenings, the BellaTOFIFEST International Film Festival offers a rich accompanying programme including gala concerts, workshops, panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and networking events.

For years, the festival has promoted European productions that break away from conventional genre and narrative frameworks, introducing fresh ideas and challenging stereotypes. Particular emphasis is placed on films that tackle bold and often difficult subjects, encouraging reflection and stimulating discussion.

Meetings with filmmakers are an integral part of the festival experience, bringing additional depth and colour to the world of cinema while giving audiences the opportunity to better understand the creative process behind the films and the inspirations that shaped them.
